The caption - we made history for a reason tonight. What reason? same old rhetoric echoed by the person who wins a election- promising to raise partitions and barriers for more conflicts. Underlying notion amongst us that a strong and powerful leader for managing affairs of a community is needed - this is a myth that never breaks and we dare not see what is on the other side.
Democracy, communist or monarchy this myth has become a rule in psyche of humans. The reason of growing conflicts on planet earth.
We see it all around the globe.
What is on other side?
A community run by engagement of all humans- all stakeholders.
A vote, once in five years or whatever tenure a set of people chose to rule or barter power, is insuffient provision for now aware citizenery on decision that matter their lives. A new chapter must commence, sooner the better.
Technology has facilitated human life like never before.
Unfortunately the time saved in human lives because of technology is encroached by hedonistic pursuits including fake religious enticements spreading hatred amongst fellow humans. This is because our role in day to day affairs and governance of life around us is hardly any, most of us stay alienated from the system, lamenting on helplessness, living with disagreement on decisions taken mostly by a coterie.
Eudaemonic happiness- happiness that comes from finding meaning and purpose of life is associated with community welfare and a sustainablity of environment around us.
Imagine a community that is run by generating consensus, would it not be action oriented towards harmony and peace?
This is possible if the assumptions we live with are reimagined and a belief is built that it is possible to live together engaging with what matters is our concern not through a subset of people represented or a leader assigned.
Mobile phone has emerged as a powerful tool and social media is already active. People can stay in network and they can decide in network. Every decision comes through opinion of people is possible like never before.
As of now only market forces are using technology for facilitation of decisions that a board of directors are presumed to be taking.
Human is a stakeholder; human life matters and so is his/her opinion. Why the administration of a block in vicinity, city, state, country cannot be fueled by the opinion of majority to begin with (consensus being ultimate), why it should not become routine of daily life of every human being. This ought to be the priority and overriding. Research and action in materialising this concept is missing.
We grow up reading stories of leaders and education proping up concepts of building leadership skills. Skills of community- living together in cooperation are more important but generally overshadowed.
History had limited role of technology. The time and skills humans deploy in restructuring, generating consensus and targetting the concept of living together in new era must grow manyfolds.
It is definitely possible to break the myth.
